Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis Endorses Joanna Weiss for California’s 47th Congressional District
This announcement comes on the heels of other major endorsement announcements for Weiss, demonstrating continued and growing support for her in her Congressional campaign.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Today, Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis announced her endorsement of Joanna Weiss to represent California’s 47th congressional district.
“It is more important than ever that we stand up to elect strong women leaders,” said Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis. “Our country needs leaders that are ready for the tough fights ahead, from protecting access to abortion to defending our democracy and fighting climate change. Joanna has a strong and demonstrated record of standing up for what is right, even when it’s not easy. I know she is ready to serve the 47th district in Congress. I am proud to endorse her.”
“I have long admired Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis’ leadership and courage, and it is such an honor to receive her endorsement in my campaign for Congress,” said Joanna Weiss. “I look forward to fighting alongside her for reproductive freedom for Californians, climate action, and our democratic institutions. Winning this seat is absolutely critical to ensuring that we still have a functioning democracy, that we take action on the climate crisis and protect future generations, and that we create an economy that works for all Americans. There is so much on the line, and I am grateful that Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis is supporting me in this campaign.”
Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis is the latest major endorsement announcement by the Weiss campaign. Last month, Rep. Swalwell, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and Rep. Julia Brownley endorsed her within one week, demonstrating growing support for her from the Democratic congressional members in state. Lieutenant Governor also joins Congresswoman Linda Sánchez, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, dozens of other women and local leaders, Moms Fed Up, EMILYs List, Elect Democratic Women PAC, Women’s Political Committee, and labor, who have announced their enthusiastic endorsement of Weiss.
